Oberto is the artisan butcher shop that has made fassona known throughout the world by selecting the best animals raised in Piedmont. Today, the company proudly boasts of being the point of reference for the selection, processing and international distribution of Fassona meat of the Piedmontese breed, for which it can claim credit.
The origins
In Alba, the capital of the Langhe, Pietro Oberto opened Macelleria Da Piero, which boasts among its customers the most important restaurants in the area. Early and pioneering selections of cattle by age and sex began, experimenting with extended aging. Daniele Oberto joined his father in the butcher's shop, thus beginning a long work of enhancing and promoting Piedmontese Fassona in the best restaurants in Italy. The experience gained in contact with breeders leads Macelleria Da Piero to create a new standard of quality. The Fassona Selection was born, of which the Obertos are pioneers: 100% Piemontese Breed meat obtained only from females over 36 months old and aged at least two weeks.
The Fassona Piemontese
The adult female Piemontese Breed is fed a balanced diet of top-quality vegetable and natural products, such as grains, fruits and vegetables. This is an animal that enjoys excellent health and lives in conditions of total well-being, which makes the meat a product of excellence. This Piedmontese bovine is characterized by a splendid and elegant white coat, strong musculature and low cholesterol content: an excellent ratio of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids. The large presence of omega-3 and omega-6 make this meat among the healthiest.
