The Wakame Seaweed has a mild sea flavor, it reminds of oysters. The colour is brown-yellow and golden, it turns to green when it is cooked. The texture is crunchy and fleshy and it has an elongated form.
This seaweed has an high content of fibers, it is source of proteins and it is very low in fats. It can be served raw or blanched and seasoned in salads. It is a great option to accompany meat, fish and seafood in general or to season cookies and pies in a crushed form.
The Company
Porto-Muiños is a family business formed by husband and wife, Antonio Muíños and Rosa Mirás. In 1998, they began processing seaweed and selling it in dry or canned form. Today their products can be found in powdered, salted and fresh form, the latter in particular are having great success. Antonio and Rosa have built the success of their company on the study and dissemination of the organoleptic characteristics of seaweed.
