Seleqta Jijona Nougat
Jijona nougat differs from other traditional nougats in its softer, almost creamy texture. Garrigos' handcrafted nougats are made according to ancient traditional techniques and exclusively with premium raw materials.
Nougat is a typical Christmas holiday dessert, but the Spanish company has given it a new identity, transforming it into an everyday dessert that can be enjoyed at any time of day throughout the year.
How is Jijona nougat produced?
Jijona nougat is made from a mixture of ground roasted almonds with egg white and honey. This mixture is ground in special mills until it becomes a uniform fluid mass, which is then cooked again in pots called "boixets." Through the movement of the "boix" a homogeneous mixture is obtained and finished by pouring it into some molds. It is left to cool until the nougat is finished (it takes at least 24 hours for the almonds to release their oil).
