Valencia Almonds With Skin
Valencia is the most cultivated almond variety in Spain and Almondeli almonds are toasted and slightly salted, perfect for a break or a gourmet aperitif. Almondeli almonds come from numerous almond groves that extend over 200 hectares of land and where only the Marcona and Valencia varieties are grown, the fruits of a tree with a very long lifespan: the Prunus Amygdalus.
The almond tree can reach heights of about ten meters and is characterized by white or slightly pinkish flowers with five petals. The productivity of the tree increases with age, until reaching its maximum at around eighteen years: at this point the almond tree is able to produce around 75 to 90 quintals of almonds with husks and shells per year. In ancient times the almond plant spread first to Greece and later to Italy, France and Spain. After the United States, Spain is the second biggest producer of almonds in the world. Between the most cultivated varieties, the Valencia is amongst those with the highest demand for “salty” uses.
The nuts are harvested primarily in the summer months, when the seed reaches a solid state. For the most part Mediterranean almond growing consists of small family-run almond groves – just like the Almondeli one – and, unlike the Californian variety the nuts are still harvested by hand.

Today, Almondeli almonds are still grown using traditional methods: a small family-run company, now in its sixth generations, which has always cultivated and sold authentic Mediterranean almonds grown with the utmost care, dedication and passion for the product. Almondeli is strongly committed to sustainable agriculture and to the use of traditional methods in order to produce almonds of a consistently exceptional quality.
